Biography

Bachar Azmeh was born and has lived most of his life in Damascus- Syria. 
As senior consultant engineer, hospital planner, he has headed for decades his private healthcare facilities planning and design consulting office in Damascus.

Though he has rarely exhibited, photography has always been an essential part of his life since childhood and his photographs are in private collections, and are part of the modern art photo collection of Syria’s Ministry of Culture. He has been a member of the Syrian Photographic Society since it’s establishment.

Azmeh believes in the integration of knowledge , interests,  and cultures, derived by our intrinsic  curiosity as “homo-sapiens”. He advocates for the need to develop fast into what he calls the “socio-sapien” age.  He also firmly believe in the increasingly needed global interactive cultural integration/globalization that benefits from and preserves cultural and arts heritages of all societies. Mother nature in his opinion has always, and should continue to be the main source of all sorts of beauty, hence he is an advocate for trying to preserve her with love, appreciation, science, and sensible applicable global environmental policies.        

Azmeh’s work has been shown in several Syrian cities, Amman (Jordan), Cleveland (Ohio) and New York City. His first solo photo exhibition was held at the Goethe Institute in Damascus in 2009. His first US solo exhibition “Another Window To The Blue” was hosted by the City University of New York in 2014. In Dec. 2017 he had his third solo exhibition at the prestigious Saifi Village Gallery in Beirut Lebanon. As a resident in Cleveland - Ohio he is keen about showing his photos locally and hence his fourth exhibition July 2018 at the  Cuyahoga Library in Chagrin Falls.

Among Azmeh’s many interests are classical, contemporary, and other sorts of music. He is the founding president of ECHO, a nonprofit music society in Damascus established in 2006 to support and promote serious Syrian music and musicians. 

B. Azmeh is married to Hala Kahal (Medical Dr.). their daughter Rima a practicing registered architect lives with her family in Cleveland-OH. And their son Kinan ( Dr. in Music arts, clarinetist, and composer ) is based with his wife in NYC.
